W代表Wyoming
English Version See Below

W:It’s A Musical、Pttrns、Cosmono、Dear Land。

1 As a German band coming from Lorch, why did you choose Wyoming, the name of an American state, as the name of your band?
When we decided to choose Wyoming as our band name about a year ago we didn‘t really think of it as the state or countryside we feel especially related to. We think of it more like a place that has it‘s own history, culture and secrets that are totally unknown to us. And that idea can be related to our music: A place that we don‘t know at the beginning and have to explore ourselves with its own secrets but always formed by our stories and experiences.

2 Lorch seems to be a very small town, do you think coming from there could be a kind of restriction for your music career or would you rather consider Lorch somewhat positively made your band as it is now?
First of all Lorch is one of the reasons why we exist at all. We were born there, grew up until we were in our early/mid-twenties and are brothers and long time friends.
But at the same time it was very important for us to move away to different cities. Live on our own, learn to know new things and this helped us to get involved into the music scenes in the three cities where everyone of us lived and still lives (Frankfurt, Nuremberg and Cologne).
We guess it only would have been a restriction, if we stayed in our hometown any longer.
So as you can see we are trying to get the best out of two worlds… But it‘s also a lot of organisation and driving. Thus we met in Lorch in the cellar of our parents to write new music once in March 2012 and again one year later.
We think the mixture is the essence. The roots where we come from and the excitement of heading into new directions.

3 The band biography begins with a quotation from American author Melville, do you particularly like American literature or do you feel specially related to American culture?
No we don‘t especially feel related to American culture. But nonetheless we love authors like above named Melville, William S. Burroughs or Hunter S. Thompson.

4 What would you consider as the major influence for your music?
We‘re inspired by many things. There are a lot of indie bands we love and listen to a lot from small unknown bands to some bigger ones. But also some old Hardcore bands, classical music (especially new music), everyday sounds that surround us and the tranquility and savagery of nature. And sound orientated music in general.

5 Is “Fountain” your only release so far? What kind of respond have you got so far from the audience?
In fact our debut album „Fountain“ isn‘t released yet. We play it live, we published three songs and two videos on the internet and are looking for a label that wants to release it.
But we‘re very pleased with the response that we got from the audience so far!
At the moment we do everything on our own. It‘s hard work but we learn a lot of things apart from just writing and making music that are very important to developing as a band.

6 How do you get along with each other in the band? Do you brothers fight like the Gallagher brothers used to do in Oasis?
Haha. No. We get along really well! Maybe we‘re even the exact opposite of the Gallagher brothers.

7 What is your purpose of making music and what are you trying to achieve?
We want to let people see things from another and new perspective. We don‘t want to confront them with things they are used to. Like many other bands we‘re influenced by, we are trying to find the boundaries of pop music and break them or define them new for us.

8 Any German bands, especially new comers, that you think people should pay attention to?
It‘s A Musical, Pttrns, Cosmono, Dear Land
They‘re friends and great musicians.
